Academy of Vocal Arts

The Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) stands as a unique and highly specialized institution, singularly dedicated to the art of opera. Founded in 1934, AVA has cultivated a rich legacy as a private opera school, providing an unparalleled training ground for aspiring vocalists determined to make their mark on the international stage. It distinguishes itself by its laser focus, ensuring that every aspect of its program is meticulously crafted to nurture exceptional operatic talent.

What truly sets AVA apart is its remarkably intimate learning environment. With an exclusive student body of just 22 aspiring artists, the Academy offers an intensely personalized educational experience. This selective approach means that each student receives an extraordinary degree of individual attention, mentorship, and coaching, crucial for the demanding and nuanced craft of opera performance. Under the leadership of President Scott Guzielek, the institution maintains its commitment to fostering world-class talent within this close-knit community.

For prospective students and their families, AVA represents an unparalleled opportunity to immerse oneself completely in the professional world of opera from day one. The academic strength lies in its concentrated curriculum, entirely focused on vocal development, stagecraft, and the artistic interpretation essential for a professional career. This highly concentrated and rigorous program prepares its few, select students not just for auditions, but for sustainable, impactful careers in opera, embodying its nearly ninety-year tradition of excellence and a student experience unlike any other.
