The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM), founded in 2010, marks a significant chapter in Alabama's medical education landscape. Opening its doors for courses in 2013, ACOM proudly became the third medical school in the state, quickly establishing itself as a vital institution dedicated to the distinctive principles of osteopathic medicine. Further enhancing campus life and community connection, a walking trail opened near campus in 2019, linking the medical school with local retail areas. Demonstrating its dedication to local healthcare provision, ACOM also established an internal medicine and pediatrics clinic in Ashford, Alabama, in September 2019, offering students unique clinical opportunities while serving the surrounding region.
