Alma College

Alma College, a distinctive institution nestled in Michigan, offers a vibrant academic experience steeped in rich history and unique Scottish traditions. While founded by Michigan Presbyterians in 1886, the college proudly embraces a welcoming environment for students of all religious backgrounds, fostering a diverse and inclusive community. The college's deep roots trace back to generous benefactors like lumber magnate Ammi W. Wright and Alexander Folsom, whose early contributions were instrumental in its establishment. A charter was granted in April 1887, and classes commenced that September with a pioneering group of 95 students and nine dedicated faculty members. In 1931, the college transitioned from the "Fighting Presbyterians" to "the Scots" as its mascot, a nod to the Presbyterian Church's origins.
