Alverno College

Alverno College, a distinguished private women's college, stands as a beacon of education with a rich history dating back to 1887. Milwaukee native Christy L. Brown took the helm as the college's ninth president in April 2023, ushering in a new chapter. However, the college faced significant financial challenges, declaring "financial exigency" in the following year due to a substantial operating deficit. In response, plans were announced to implement various measures, including streamlining faculty and staff, adjusting academic programs, and ending certain athletic programs, all aimed at ensuring the college's long-term sustainability. This period marks a pivotal moment in Alverno's history, as it navigates challenges to secure its future while upholding its commitment to its students.
