Amberton University

Amberton University stands as a testament to evolving higher education, a private institution that has forged its own path since its founding in 1971. Embodying its Latin motto, "Rogamus ut Discamus" (We ask that we may learn), Amberton fosters an environment where inquiry and personal growth are paramount. Its journey began as ACC Metrocenter, a branch of Abilene Christian College, initially offering a distinct criminal justice program. This foundational period laid the groundwork for its future independence, culminating in 1981 when it proudly established itself as Amber University after a diligent four-year accreditation effort. This transition marked a significant milestone, allowing the university to carve out its own identity and educational focus, later rebranding as Amberton University in 2001 to reflect its continued evolution.

While its early criminal justice program was eventually phased out, Amberton University's commitment to relevant and accessible education has remained. Today, as a private university led by President Carol A. Palmer since 2025, it continues to serve its student body, expanding its reach with a branch campus in Frisco, Texas, opened in 2006.
