Angelina College

Angelina College stands as a vibrant public community college, dedicated to its inspiring motto: "Invest In Yourself. Invest In Your Future." Since its inception, Angelina College has been a beacon of accessible education, providing foundational learning and career pathways that empower students and families within its community. The college's rich history began with its founding on September 24, 1966. Construction of its original seven-building campus commenced in November 1967, quickly leading to its doors opening to eager students in the fall of 1968. The visionary leadership of its first president, Jack Hudgins, who was elected in December 1966, was instrumental in shaping Angelina College's early trajectory and establishing its enduring commitment to educational excellence. His remarkable tenure was later honored in 2001 when the Fine Arts Building was proudly renamed Hudgins Hall.

Following President Hudgins' impactful leadership until 1991, Larry Phillips continued to guide the institution, building upon its strong foundation. Today, Angelina College thrives under its third president, Michael Simon, who took the helm in 2015. Each leader has championed the college's mission, ensuring that it remains a responsive and vital resource for its students, continually adapting to meet the evolving educational and workforce needs of the region.
