Antioch University-New England (AUNE), founded in 1964, stands as a beacon for graduate students seeking a practical, impact-driven education. Born from the innovative Antioch College system, AUNE has evolved into an independent institution renowned for its commitment to experiential learning and addressing real-world challenges. AUNE’s roots trace back to Antioch College, an institution celebrated for its progressive politics and notable alumni like Coretta Scott King and Stephen Jay Gould. After beginning as Antioch-Putney in Vermont and moving to Harrisville, New Hampshire, the institution flourished, expanding its graduate offerings and eventually becoming Antioch New England Graduate School. While the broader Antioch system faced challenges in the 2000s, AUNE successfully navigated these changes, ultimately separating from Antioch College to forge its own path as Antioch University New England. This independence has allowed AUNE to sharpen its focus on its unique mission.

Today, AUNE is distinguished by its innovative approach to graduate education, thoughtfully designed with the working student in mind. With a student body of around 1,200, it offers an impressive array of 23 master's degree programs, 3 doctoral programs, and 4 certificate programs. A cornerstone of the AUNE experience is its robust internship requirement, where students gain up to 600 hours of invaluable on-the-job experience. Classes are strategically scheduled, often condensing a full week's work into one or two days, enabling students to balance their academic pursuits with professional and personal commitments.
