Aquinas Institute of Theology

Aquinas Institute of Theology stands as a venerable private graduate school and seminary, dedicated to theological education with a rich history of innovation. Founded in 1925, its journey reflects a commitment to adapting and expanding its reach, culminating in its current vibrant presence in St. Louis, Missouri. From its origins rooted in two Dominican colleges, the Institute has consistently evolved to meet the needs of a changing world.

Historically, Aquinas Institute has been a trailblazer in theological education. It was among the first Catholic schools to achieve accreditation from the North Central Association and later the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. A significant milestone was the establishment of the nation's first ecumenical consortium, the Association of Theological Schools of Iowa, in 1965, demonstrating an early dedication to interfaith collaboration. The Institute also notably welcomed its first women students in 1967, further exemplifying its progressive approach.
