Established in 1984 through the pioneering efforts of state legislator Anne Lindeman, ASU-West Valley began its journey as a quasi-independent campus, initially serving upper-level undergraduates. The campus's physical development kicked off in 1986, with the iconic Fletcher Library opening its doors in 1988. A pivotal transformation occurred in 2001 when freshmen were first admitted, enabling students to complete their entire undergraduate degrees on campus. This period culminated in 2002 with a full integration into the broader ASU academic structure, sharing faculty, students, and accreditation, thus providing seamless access to the vast resources of Arizona State University.
