Arkansas State University Three Rivers

Arkansas State University Three Rivers offers a vibrant pathway for students seeking quality education and career preparation within the esteemed ASU System. Originally established with a focus on vocational training, this institution has evolved dramatically to become a comprehensive two-year college, providing diverse academic and technical programs designed to meet the demands of today's workforce.

Its journey began in July 1969 as the Ouachita Vocational Technical School, with initial classes launching in January 1972. Serving 292 students across certificate programs such as automotive repair, food service, and cosmetology, it laid a foundational role in skilled trades. A pivotal moment arrived in 1991 when Governor Bill Clinton's legislation transformed vocational institutions into accredited two-year colleges, leading to its renaming as Ouachita Technical College.

This transformation allowed the college to significantly broaden its academic offerings, introducing associate degree programs in high-demand fields like nursing, business administration, manufacturing technology, and criminal justice. To better reflect its expanded mission and comprehensive scope, the institution was renamed College of the Ouachitas in 2011. Most recently, on January 1, 2020, it officially joined the Arkansas State University System, further enhancing its resources and opportunities for students seeking to build successful futures.
