Established in 1973 as the Atlantic Vocational Center, the school began with 450 adult students across 11 programs. Over the decades, it has undergone significant expansion and evolution to accommodate its growing student body and diverse program offerings. A pivotal moment came in August 2002 with the launch of its innovative magnet high school, which quickly grew to serve 600 students, with its first class graduating in 2006. This dual-enrollment model allows students to gain valuable career experience and college credits early on. Reflecting its expanded mission and comprehensive educational scope, the institution was officially renamed Atlantic Technical College in 2014.

Academically recognized for its excellence, Atlantic Technical College's magnet high school was awarded a silver medal by U.S. News & World Report for "America's Best High Schools" for three consecutive years, highlighting its commitment to high-quality education. Today, the college serves over 8,000 adult students, offering flexible learning schedules including day, night, and Saturday classes to fit various lifestyles. The high school is also a vibrant and diverse community, with a rich mix of cultures and backgrounds, fostering an inclusive environment where all students can pursue their career aspirations and achieve their full potential.
