Baptist University of Florida

Baptist University of Florida (BUF) stands as a vibrant private institution dedicated to its powerful motto: "Changing the World Through the Unchanging Word®." For prospective students and families seeking an education rooted in faith and purpose, BUF offers a distinctive environment where academic rigor meets spiritual formation. As a cooperating ministry of the Florida Baptist Convention, the university is committed to preparing graduates who are ready to make a significant impact in their communities and beyond, guided by timeless principles.

Tracing its roots back to 1943, BUF has a rich history of growth and adaptation. Initially established as the Florida Baptist Institute in Lakeland, the institution quickly evolved, undergoing several name changes to reflect its expanding scope and mission. From the Baptist Bible Institute in 1945 to the Florida Baptist Theological College in 1988, and later The Baptist College of Florida in 2000, each transformation marked a new chapter in its journey. The university moved to its picturesque Graceville, Florida campus in 1953, solidifying its presence and community ties.

The latest and most significant evolution occurred in November 2023, when the institution proudly adopted its current name, Baptist University of Florida, alongside a comprehensive rebranding that introduced a refreshed visual identity. With a close-knit community of 846 students, BUF fosters an intimate educational setting where students can thrive academically and personally. While specific academic programs aren't detailed, its history and mission strongly suggest a focus on theological studies, ministry, and related fields designed to equip students for service and leadership grounded in their faith. This unique blend of heritage, mission, and community makes BUF an exceptional choice for those looking to integrate their faith with their academic pursuits.
