Bellevue College

Bellevue College, a robust public institution founded in 1966, serves nearly 20,000 students as a vital educational hub on the east side of the Seattle metropolitan area. From its origins as a community-driven initiative, BC has grown into a cornerstone of regional education, known for fostering academic excellence and preparing students for successful futures.

The college's journey began with community vision, as a planning committee formed in 1957 led to a successful levy in 1962, officially opening its doors in 1966. Its main campus followed in 1968. In 2009, Bellevue Community College proudly adopted its current name, Bellevue College, reflecting its expanding academic offerings, which notably included its first bachelor's of applied science in radiation and imaging sciences in 2006. BC has also demonstrated its commitment to civic discourse and social justice, as seen in the significant events surrounding the "Never Again Is Now" mural in 2020, which led to a period of leadership transition, including the interim presidency of former Washington Governor Gary Locke, a distinguished figure in public service.

Today, under the leadership of President David May, who brings decades of higher education experience, Bellevue College continues to build on its legacy.
