Big Bend Community College

Overcoming initial hurdles, including a steelworkers' strike that delayed its permanent facility, BBCC bravely held its first classes in Moses Lake High School in 1962. A significant turning point in BBCC's history came with the acquisition of a 159-acre tract on the former Larson Air Force Base in 1966, obtained at no cost. This expansion established the north campus, eventually consolidating all classes and programs by 1975, creating a unified and robust educational hub. Designated as District 18 by the Washington State Legislature's Community College Act of 1967, BBCC proudly serves a substantial 4,600-square-mile district, encompassing Grant and Adams counties, along with the Odessa School District in Lincoln County, making it a pivotal educational resource for the region.
