Black Hawk College

Black Hawk College stands as a cornerstone of educational opportunity in Illinois, offering a dynamic range of programs across its two main campuses in Moline and Galva (near Kewanee). The college boasts a rich history, beginning in 1946 as Moline Community College, initially co-located with Moline High School. Over the decades, it grew significantly, evolving into Black Hawk College in 1961 and strategically expanding its reach. This growth included opening operations in Kewanee in 1967 and establishing its dedicated East Campus in Galva in 1971, which notably houses specialized agriculture and horticulture programs. This strategic expansion culminated in its recognition by the Illinois Community College Board in 1989 as a unified institution operating effectively across two comprehensive campuses.

Beyond Moline and Galva, the college operates several outreach centers, including an Outreach Center in East Moline, an Adult Learning Center in Rock Island, and a Community Education Center in Kewanee.
