Steeped in history and forward-thinking, the Blinn College District stands as a prominent public junior college in Texas, serving over 18,300 students across its six campuses. Blinn's story began in 1883 as the Mission Institute, founded by local minister Carl Urbantke for ministerial students. It quickly became coeducational and was renamed Blinn Memorial College in 1889, honoring the significant financial contributions of Reverend Christian Blinn. A pivotal moment in its history occurred in 1937 when, through the will of Washington County voters, it transformed into the first county-owned junior college district in Texas, severing ties with its Methodist affiliations and ensuring its public mission.

After overcoming early challenges, Blinn experienced steady growth, particularly under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Morris Spencer. The college has expanded significantly over the decades, now boasting campuses in Brenham, Bryan (Villa Maria Road and the former Bryan post office for specialized programs), Schulenburg, Sealy, and Waller. A notable development is its innovative partnership with Texas A&M University at the RELLIS Campus, featuring modern facilities including a new $32 million administration building with 19 classrooms.
