Brigham Young University-Hawaii, nestled in the stunning Lāʻie community on Oahu's North Shore, offers a truly unique educational experience. Founded in 1955 as the Church College of Hawaii by then-LDS Church president David O. McKay, the institution was established to provide higher education opportunities for the burgeoning LDS population in the Pacific. What began with an inaugural class of 153 students and 20 faculty quickly evolved, becoming a four-year accredited college by 1961 and eventually adopting the Brigham Young University-Hawaii name in 1974, signifying its growth and academic rigor.
