The school's rich history began in 1914, thanks to the visionary philanthropy of Presidio County rancher Lucas Charles "L.C." Brite and his wife, Edward "Eddie" Anderson Brite. Their commitment not only built the First Christian Church in Marfa but also endowed what was initially known as Brite College of the Bible. This foundational act underscored a deep belief in the power of theological education to uplift communities and nurture spiritual growth, setting the stage for over a century of academic and spiritual excellence. The institution evolved, receiving its current distinguished name, Brite Divinity School, in 1963, reflecting its expanded scope and enduring mission.
