Brunswick Community College

Brunswick Community College (BCC) stands as a vital educational cornerstone in its community, offering accessible pathways to learning and career advancement. Established as a public community college, BCC proudly serves a student body of 1,845 individuals, fostering an environment where local talent can thrive and grow. BCC's journey began in July 1979, when it was first known as Brunswick Technical Institute. Within months, in October of the same year, it evolved into Brunswick Technical College. Its initial home was a modest 3,732 square foot cinder block building, a testament to its humble yet determined beginnings. The college quickly grew, completing its first building on the permanent campus in 1983, marking a significant step in its development.

Further solidifying its standing, Brunswick Community College achieved accreditation in 1983 from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, ensuring high standards of education. The college adopted its current, standardized name, Brunswick Community College, in 1988, aligning with other North Carolina institutions. A truly impactful moment in its history came in 1989 with a generous $500,000 donation from local politician and businessman Odell Williamson, which funded the construction of the impressive 1,500-seat Odell Williamson Auditorium, a central hub for campus and community events.
