California College of ASU

California College of ASU, formerly known as Columbia College Hollywood, carved a significant niche in creative media education. Established in 1953, it quickly became a pioneering institution, initially focusing on the burgeoning television and radio industries. As the entertainment landscape evolved, so did the college, adapting its curriculum to prepare students for careers in film, television, and various media fields, becoming a cornerstone for aspiring creatives.

Its journey mirrored the growth of Hollywood itself. Starting in MacArthur Park, the college strategically moved to a larger campus on La Brea Avenue in central Hollywood by 1970, further integrating itself into the industry's pulse. In 1997, it settled into a dedicated campus in Tarzana. This period saw the college expand its reach, even acquiring Tribeca Flashpoint College in Chicago in 2018, demonstrating its ambition to foster creative talent across different hubs.

A pivotal and transformative phase began in 2023 when the institution affiliated with Arizona State University, adopting the new name, California College of ASU. This arrangement brought its operations to the vibrant ASU California Center in downtown Los Angeles, offering a fresh, collaborative environment within the broader ASU network. Though its chapter concluded on December 19, 2025, California College of ASU leaves a memorable legacy as an adaptive institution that significantly contributed to creative media education for over seven decades.
