Welcome to California State University, Fresno, widely known as Fresno State! Established in 1911 as the Fresno State Normal School, its initial mission was to train educators for California's burgeoning public school system. Over the decades, this vital institution evolved, transitioning to Fresno State College in 1949 with the authority to grant bachelor's degrees, and eventually adopting its current name, California State University, Fresno, in 1972.
