California State University-Sacramento, affectionately known as Sac State, stands as a vibrant public university in the heart of California's capital. Founded in 1947 as Sacramento State College to meet the intense demand for higher education after World War II, it quickly grew, eventually moving to its picturesque 305-acre campus along the American River in 1952.
