California University of Science and Medicine (CUSM) stands as a beacon of modern medical education, strategically founded in 2015 with a clear mission: to combat the critical physician shortage in the United States. Located in the medically underserved Inland Empire, CUSM is not just a school; it's a direct response to a pressing healthcare need. Its state-of-the-art campus, completed in 2020, boasts modern lecture halls, clinical skills rooms, and labs, designed to foster a dynamic learning environment for future doctors.

The genesis of CUSM is rooted in significant philanthropic vision. Established as a non-profit medical school by cardiologist Prem Reddy, owner of Prime Healthcare, it received an initial foundational donation of $40 million from the Prime Healthcare Foundation in 2014, which later grew to over $60 million with additional support from the Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation. This substantial investment underscores a profound commitment to developing a new generation of healthcare leaders, opening its doors to students in 2018 and quickly becoming a vital institution.

CUSM’s dedication to its students and mission is evident in its robust academic environment and support systems. For its inaugural class, the school received over 2,400 applications, a testament to its immediate appeal and relevance. Many students benefit from scholarships provided by the Dr. Prem Reddy Family Foundation, easing their path to becoming physicians. The first class of 64 physicians proudly graduated on May 21, 2022, marking a significant milestone. Students gain invaluable practical experience through its affiliation with Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, serving as the primary teaching hospital, ensuring a comprehensive and impactful medical education.
