Cedarville University

Cedarville University stands as a testament to enduring faith and academic ambition, founded in 1887 with the motto "Pro Corona et Foedere Christi" (For the Crown and Covenant of Christ). Initially chartered by the New Light Reformed Presbyterian Church, Cedarville has evolved into a vibrant private university, fostering a strong sense of community and commitment to its foundational principles, while adapting to meet the educational needs of over 6,300 students today.

A pivotal moment in Cedarville's history occurred in 1953 when it merged with the Baptist Bible Institute of Cleveland. Under visionary leaders like James T. Jeremiah, who began his tenure in 1954, Cedarville College transformed into an accredited institution of higher learning, seeing its enrollment soar to over 1,200 students by the mid-1970s. This period of dynamic growth continued with Paul H. Dixon's presidency, during which the campus expanded significantly from 180 to 400 acres, accompanied by an impressive $100 million in new facilities.
