This institution's unique genesis in 2002 saw leaders like Alex Sanders, a former Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, and U.S. magistrate judges Robert Carr and George Kosko, along with prominent civil lawyer Edward J. Westbrook and professor Ralph McCullough, come together. Their collective effort aimed to fill a void in legal education that had persisted since the 1828 dissolution of the Forensic Club, making the Charleston School of Law a significant historical landmark in the state's legal landscape.
