Chattahoochee Valley Community College

Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) stands as a beacon of public education in Alabama, dedicated to providing accessible and high-quality learning opportunities. Since its establishment in 1973, CVCC has grown into a cornerstone for local students, offering diverse pathways for academic and career advancement within the Chattahoochee Valley region.

The college's journey began in 1973, initially chartered as Chattahoochee Valley State Junior College by the Alabama State Legislature. Opening its doors in January 1974 with 280 students, it quickly experienced a surge in popularity, enrolling 1,239 students by April of the same year. This rapid growth was supported by the generous donation of 103 acres of land by local residents for its permanent campus, solidifying its roots deep within the community it serves.

Over the decades, CVCC evolved to better reflect its expansive mission. The "junior" designation was updated to "community" in the 1980s, and the "state" identifier was dropped in 1996, culminating in its current name, Chattahoochee Valley Community College. Today, the campus boasts nine permanent buildings, including the state-of-the-art Instructional & Performing Arts Center (IPAC), enhancing both academic programs and student life. Furthermore, the Chattahoochee Valley Community College Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting students through scholarships, reinforcing the college's commitment to their success.
