Chattahoochee Valley Community College

Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) stands as a cornerstone of accessible education, dedicated to empowering students within its vibrant community. Established in 1973, this public community college has consistently evolved to meet the educational and professional needs of its region. From its humble beginnings, CVCC has grown into an institution known for providing foundational learning and pathways to success, fostering both academic achievement and personal development.

CVCC's rich history began with its establishment by the Alabama State Legislature as Chattahoochee Valley State Junior College. Opening its doors in January 1974 to an initial class of 280 students, its rapid growth was evident as enrollment soared to 1,239 by April of the same year. This early success was bolstered by the generous donation of 103 acres of land by local residents, allowing for the construction of a permanent campus that now boasts nine permanent buildings, including the modern Instructional & Performing Arts Center (IPAC). Over the years, the institution refined its identity, transitioning from "Junior College" to "Community College" in the 1980s and finally adopting its current name in 1996, reflecting its deep ties to the Chattahoochee Valley.
