Clatsop Community College

Clatsop Community College stands as a landmark institution, distinguished as Oregon's very first community college. Established in 1958 under the guidance of the Astoria Board of Education, Clatsop Community College quickly carved out its identity. Its original curriculum was forward-thinking, encompassing not only two years of transferable college classes but also specialized sequences in Electronics, Business, Automotive, and Building Construction. This early commitment to both academic rigor and hands-on professional training set a precedent for its enduring mission. A significant milestone occurred in 1962 when Clatsop County residents voted to form an independent, county-wide education district, solidifying the college's distinct role separate from the local school district and marking a new era of growth.

The college found its permanent home following the renovation of the former Astoria High School in June 1962, a facility that continues to serve as a central part of its campus. More recently, Clatsop Community College embarked on the Jerome Campus Redevelopment project, breaking ground in October 2008. This ambitious undertaking has since culminated in the thoughtful renovation of historic Towler Hall, the revitalization of Patriot Hall, and the construction of the modern Columbia Hall, ensuring that CCC provides contemporary learning environments while honoring its rich legacy under the leadership of President Jarrod Hogue.
