Cleveland Community College

Cleveland Community College, nestled in Shelby, North Carolina, stands as a vibrant public institution dedicated to empowering its community. The college's journey began modestly on July 1, 1965, as the Cleveland County Industrial and Adult Education Center. Its initial offerings included essential programs like a Licensed Practical Nurse program and adult basic education, addressing immediate community needs. Over the years, it evolved, first changing its name to Cleveland County Industrial Center, then to Cleveland County Technical Institute. A significant milestone occurred in 1969 when the institution moved into the historic old county home buildings, which still serve as its campus today. By 1980, it adopted its current, well-recognized name: Cleveland Community College.

Today, Cleveland Community College is a proud member of the North Carolina Community College System, holding esteemed accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
