Coastal Bend College

Coastal Bend College, a vibrant public community college, is dedicated to making "Success Happens Here" a reality for its 4,105 students. Since its founding, CBC has been a cornerstone of educational opportunity, providing accessible and high-quality learning experiences that empower students to achieve their academic and career aspirations. It stands as a vital resource for the Coastal Bend region, fostering growth and development within the community it serves.

The college's journey began in 1965, when the Bee County Junior College District was overwhelmingly approved by local citizens eager to establish a community college. This strong community support led to the college's opening in September 1967, welcoming 790 students in its inaugural year. What started as a local initiative soon grew into a regional powerhouse.

In 1995, an act by the Texas Legislature significantly extended the college's service area, reflecting its increasing impact and reach. To better represent this expanded footprint, the institution officially changed its name from Bee County College to Coastal Bend College on September 1, 1998. This rebranding underscored its commitment to serving a broader population across the beautiful Coastal Bend region.

Today, under the leadership of President Zachary Z. Suarez, Coastal Bend College continues its mission of providing a robust foundation for learning.
