Coastal Bend College

Coastal Bend College, established in 1965, stands as a pillar of accessible education in the Coastal Bend region. The college's journey began with the strong support of the Bee County community, which overwhelmingly voted to create the Bee County Junior College District and approve funding in 1965. Opening its doors in September 1967 with 790 students, the institution quickly grew to meet the educational needs of the area. This commitment to community engagement and student success has been a driving force throughout its history.

In 1998, reflecting an expanded service area granted by the Texas Legislature in 1995, the college officially changed its name from Bee County College to Coastal Bend College. Today, under the leadership of President Zachary Z. Suarez, Coastal Bend College continues to thrive, serving over 4,100 students across its various programs. This growth underscores its vital role in providing quality, affordable education and contributing significantly to the regional economy and talent pool.
