About Coastal Pines Technical College
Coastal Pines: Georgia's largest technical college, powering careers with exceptional job placement.
Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) stands as a beacon of career-focused education in southeastern Georgia, serving an expansive thirteen-county region – the largest service delivery area in the Technical College System of Georgia. Renowned for its exceptional commitment to workforce development and student success, CPTC empowers individuals with practical skills and knowledge, leading to outstanding job placement rates and a significant impact on the region's economy.
Established on July 1, 2014, through the strategic merger of Altamaha Technical College (founded 1989) and Okefenokee Technical College (founded 1965), CPTC carries a rich legacy of technical education. The college offers a robust portfolio of over 130 programs, including associate's degrees, diplomas, and certificates across high-demand fields such as allied health, business and computer technology, personal services, and industrial technology. Students can achieve their educational goals rapidly, with some programs designed for completion in as little as eight weeks, up to two years for comprehensive degrees.
Affordability and accessibility are core to the CPTC experience. With tuition set at an incredibly low $89 per credit hour, and eleven tuition-free programs available through the HOPE Career Grant, quality education is within reach for many. The college further supports its students with access to scholarships and grants via the CPTC Foundation. With seven instructional sites spread across rural towns like Brunswick, Waycross, and Jesup, alongside nineteen adult education sites and dual enrollment opportunities with sixteen high schools, CPTC is deeply embedded in its communities, ensuring a personalized and supportive learning environment for its students.
CPTC's dedication to its students' future is evident in its remarkable 99% overall job placement rate, with an impressive 94% of graduates securing employment directly within their field of study. This commitment to excellence was formally recognized when Coastal Pines Technical College was honored with the 2017 Sonny Perdue Award for the TCSG Technical College of the Year, acknowledging its leading performance in enrollment growth, graduation rates, operational efficiency, and licensure pass rates.
