Coconino Community College

Coconino Community College (CCC) stands as a vital public institution, dedicated to providing accessible and affordable education for the residents of Coconino County. With a vibrant student body of 3,515, CCC addresses a critical need, offering pathways to higher education and vocational training for those who might otherwise face barriers due to cost or location.

The college's genesis is a testament to persistent community resolve. After two previous attempts in 1978 and 1985 failed, the community rallied once more. A ballot measure to form the district passed in November 1990, followed by voter approval for funding in May 1991. This robust public support culminated in the opening of Coconino County Community College on July 1, 1991, initially welcoming nearly 1,000 students.

From its humble beginnings in a shopping center, CCC has grown into a cornerstone of regional education, evolving to meet the diverse needs of its students. It provides essential opportunities for adult education and vocational training, ensuring that residents of Arizona's largest county can pursue their academic and career goals without the burden of relocating or the expense of larger universities. In 2002, the college further expanded its footprint with the opening of its dedicated Lone Tree campus in Flagstaff, symbolizing its continued commitment to student success.
