College of Central Florida

The College of Central Florida (CCF) stands as a vital public institution, dedicated to providing accessible and high-quality education across Citrus, Levy, and Marion counties. With a vibrant student body exceeding 10,800, CCF serves as a cornerstone for academic and career advancement, offering a diverse range of programs designed to meet the evolving needs of its community.

CCF's rich history began in 1957 as Central Florida Junior College, initially serving 320 students in temporary facilities. A defining moment arrived in 1966 with the merger of Central Florida Junior College and Hampton Junior College—one of Florida's pioneering Black two-year colleges. This historic consolidation not only expanded the college's reach but also solidified its enduring commitment to inclusive education and community service.

Over the decades, the institution has continually evolved, reflecting its broadening mission. Renamed Central Florida Community College in 1971 and ultimately the College of Central Florida in 2010, its physical footprint has also grown dramatically. The Ocala campus has expanded from its original 60 acres to 140 acres, complemented by the development of a state-of-the-art campus in Lecanto, Citrus County. Under the leadership of President James Henningsen since 2012, CCF continues to foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment, empowering students to achieve their educational and professional aspirations.
