College of Central Florida

The College of Central Florida (CCF) stands as a vibrant public institution dedicated to fostering education and community growth across Citrus, Levy, and Marion counties. Since its founding in 1957, CCF has evolved significantly, continuously adapting to meet the educational needs of its diverse student body. With a robust student population of over 10,800, CCF is a cornerstone of learning, committed to providing accessible and high-quality academic experiences.

CCF's journey began as Central Florida Junior College, quickly establishing itself as a vital educational resource. A pivotal moment in its history was the 1966 merger with Hampton Junior College, one of Florida's pioneering two-year colleges for Black students, showcasing an early commitment to inclusive education. This spirit of evolution continued with its transformation into Central Florida Community College in 1971, emphasizing its dedication to serving the broader community, culminating in its current identity as the College of Central Florida in 2010.

From its initial 60-acre Ocala campus, CCF has expanded dramatically, now encompassing 140 acres and boasting a significant endowment of $0.1 billion. The college's commitment to accessibility is further evidenced by the establishment and growth of its Wilton Simpson Citrus Campus in Lecanto, which opened in 1996 and expanded with new facilities like the Citrus Learning and Conference Center. Under the leadership of President James Henningsen since 2012, CCF remains focused on providing a supportive and enriching environment where students can thrive, pursue their academic goals, and prepare for future success.
