College of Southern Idaho

The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) stands as a dynamic and integral institution in the heart of Twin Falls, Idaho, known for its vibrant community and a particularly spirited men's basketball program. With home games consistently selling out and ranking among Twin Falls' main entertainment draws, CSI has fostered a strong sense of pride and community engagement, making it much more than just a place of learning—it's a cultural cornerstone.

The journey to CSI's establishment was marked by several attempts to bring higher education to the region, following the closure of the Southern Idaho College of Education (SICE) in 1951. It wasn't until the Idaho Legislature passed and Governor Robert Smylie signed the pivotal Junior College Act in 1963 that the vision truly took shape. Twin Falls County voters formed the junior college district in 1964, joined by Jerome County in 1965, leading to CSI holding its very first classes later that year at Twin Falls High School.

Since moving to its own campus in 1968, CSI has experienced remarkable growth, becoming one of the fastest-growing colleges in Idaho. The institution's commitment to excellence extends beyond academics into its athletic programs, highlighted by the men's basketball team, founded in 1967 by the legendary Eddie Sutton. This team has consistently been a national contender at the community college level, further cementing CSI's vital role both culturally and economically within the Twin Falls area.
