College of the Redwoods

College of the Redwoods stands as a vital public community college, serving over 6,400 students across a vast and beautiful Northern California region. Since its founding in 1964, CR has been dedicated to providing accessible education, acting as a cornerstone for community growth and individual advancement in Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte, and parts of Trinity Counties. The college's journey began with the formation of the Redwoods Community College District, which steadily expanded to include coastal Mendocino and Del Norte counties by the late 1970s, solidifying its role as a regional educational hub. While facing financial challenges stemming from statewide propositions and economic downturns, College of the Redwoods has demonstrated remarkable resilience. A significant moment of affirmation came in 2014 when, after a period of "Show Cause" status, the college successfully reaffirmed its accreditation, underscoring its commitment to quality education.
