Colorado State University Global (CSU Global) stands out as a unique and innovative institution within the respected Colorado State University System. Established in 2007, it was specifically conceived as an exclusively online university to address the evolving educational needs of adult learners, both within Colorado and beyond. Unlike traditional campuses, CSU Global was built from the ground up to deliver high-quality online programs, offering unparalleled flexibility for students balancing education with other commitments.

The journey of CSU Global began in August 2007 when the CSU System Board of Governors decided to establish an online-only institution. Initially proposed as CSU-Colorado, it quickly adopted its current name, CSU-Global Campus, signaling its global reach and dedicated focus. Its independence was solidified on March 18, 2009, when Colorado Governor Bill Ritter signed legislation formally recognizing CSU Global as a distinct and independent university within the CSU System, alongside its sister institutions, CSU-Fort Collins and CSU-Pueblo.

A testament to its innovative model, CSU Global received a significant $12 million loan for its establishment in 2007, which it fully repaid by June 2012. Remarkably, CSU Global operates without state funding, making it a self-sustaining entity within the university system. With a vibrant student body of 9,507, it continues its mission to provide accessible, high-quality online education, designed specifically for adult learners seeking to advance their careers and expand their knowledge on a flexible schedule.
