Columbia-Greene Community College

Established in the mid-1960s to serve the educational needs of the region, C-GCC officially welcomed its first cohort of 350 full-time and part-time students in September 1969. This pioneering spirit quickly blossomed, leading to the graduation of its first class of 35 associate degree recipients just two years later.

From its humble beginnings in an old schoolhouse in Athens, New York, C-GCC has grown into a fully accredited institution. The college achieved full accreditation status by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in 1975, a testament to its commitment to academic excellence and robust educational offerings.
