Community College of Vermont

Community College of Vermont (CCV) stands as a beacon of accessible public education, committed to serving the diverse needs of learners across the state since its inception in 1970. What began with a modest offering of 10 courses and 50 students quickly grew into a vital educational hub, earning accreditation by 1975 and continuously expanding its reach. CCV is particularly known for its forward-thinking approach to delivery, pioneering a "virtual campus" in the early 90s to link its many locations and introducing its first online courses soon after, demonstrating an early commitment to flexible learning options.

Academically, CCV provides robust associate degree programs designed to prepare students for further education or direct entry into the workforce. This commitment is exemplified by the introduction of specialized degrees like the Associate of Science in Environmental Science, reflecting relevant and in-demand fields. The college prides itself on fostering a supportive student experience, catering to both traditional and non-traditional learners, with a significant portion of its enrollment being younger students, reaching 33% under 22 by 2003.

With a history marked by rapid growth in student numbers, topping 5,000 in 1993 and exceeding 10,000 by 2004, CCV has consistently evolved to meet Vermont's educational needs. Its physical presence has also expanded and modernized, with new facilities in Winooski and Montpelier, and campus relocations to better serve its communities.
