The university's rich history began with a vision for a preparatory college in the Pacific Southwest, proposed by Dr. Victor Behnken in 1955. This vision materialized in 1976 with the official founding of Christ College Irvine, under the leadership of its founding president, Rev. Dr. Charles Manske. In a significant evolution, Christ College Irvine was renamed Concordia University Irvine in 1993, solidifying its place as the tenth campus within the national Concordia University System—a testament to its growing influence and commitment to a broader educational network.
