About Covenant Theological Seminary

Covenant Seminary equips global leaders to faithfully serve Christ and His Church.

Covenant Theological Seminary stands as the national seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), dedicated to equipping faithful pastors, missionaries, and Christian leaders for global impact. Founded on a deep commitment to biblical truth, the seminary provides rigorous theological education that prepares students not just for careers, but for lives of devoted service within diverse ministry contexts.

The seminary's rich history began in 1956, established as a sister institution to Covenant College. Born from the Bible Presbyterian Church (Columbus Synod), its founders envisioned a strong theological school capable of resisting liberalizing influences prevalent in American Evangelicalism. Over the decades, Covenant Seminary navigated significant denominational mergers, eventually becoming integral to the PCA in 1982, a relationship that continues to define its mission and oversight today.

Now celebrating over 65 years of continuous growth and an expanding reputation, Covenant Theological Seminary attracts a diverse student body from nearly every U.S. state and numerous countries worldwide, both on campus and through online programs. This vibrant community contributes to a dynamic learning environment where future leaders are shaped. The seminary's enduring legacy is powerfully demonstrated through its more than 4,500 graduates, who faithfully serve across all 50 states and in 100 countries as pastors, church planters, missionaries, counselors, educators, and in myriad other ministry and non-vocational ministry capacities, impacting countless lives for Christ.
