Daemen's journey began in 1947 as Rosary Hill College, a Catholic institution for women founded by the Sisters of St. Francis. Demonstrating a forward-thinking spirit, the college welcomed men in the mid-1960s, graduating its first male student in 1965. In 1976, it evolved into an independent, secular institution, proudly adopting the name Daemen College in honor of Mother Magdalene Daemen, the founder of the Sisters of St. Francis.
