Danville Area Community College

Danville Area Community College (DACC) stands as a vital educational hub, rooted deeply in the community it serves. What began in 1949 as Danville Community College, continuing the mission of post-World War II University of Illinois extension centers, has blossomed into an independent two-year institution dedicated to fostering local talent and providing accessible pathways to success. DACC is known for its comprehensive range of college-level courses and robust career-preparatory programs designed to equip students with practical skills for immediate employment or seamless transfer to four-year universities.

The college’s history is a testament to community spirit and educational foresight. From its early days in Danville High School under Mary Miller's leadership to acquiring its expansive 75-acre campus in 1965 – a move made possible by local citizens' fundraising efforts – DACC has consistently grown and adapted. Today, the campus blends historic, renovated buildings from the late 1890s, like the impressive Clock Tower Center, with modern facilities such as the Technology Center, Ornamental Horticulture building, and the expanded Mary Miller Complex.

Academically, DACC empowers students through specialized divisions like Sciences housed in the Mary Miller Center and a dedicated Child Development Center. The Downtown Center, established in 2002, further extends the college’s reach, offering crucial career-focused training right in the heart of Danville. Beyond academics, DACC fosters a vibrant student experience, proudly hosting the NJCAA Men's Division II Basketball Championship in the Mary Miller Center Gymnasium annually since 1994, drawing national attention and providing exciting events for the college community.
