Defiance College

Defiance College, with its inspiring motto "Defi the ordinary," offers a uniquely personal and engaging educational journey. Tracing its roots back to 1850 as the Defiance Female Seminary, the institution was founded by the Christian Connection to provide schooling for young women. It formally evolved into Defiance College in 1903, marking a significant milestone as one of only two religious-affiliated colleges to open in Ohio during the 20th century. The mid-20th century saw remarkable growth under President Kevin McCann, expanding the campus to 140 acres and adding key facilities. Its historical significance is further underscored by two visits from President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who laid a cornerstone and delivered a memorable commencement address.
