Delta College Inc. stands as a cornerstone of public community education, proudly serving the vibrant communities of Saginaw, Midland, and Bay counties. With a robust student body of 9,000, Delta College is known for its commitment to accessible learning and fostering regional development. Under the leadership of President Michael Gavin, it continues to evolve as a vital educational hub, dedicated to empowering its students and contributing to the prosperity of its service area.

The college's roots trace back to 1955 when its distinct tri-county district was established. A forward-thinking vision led voters to approve its construction in 1957, culminating in the grand opening of classes in 1961. Delta College rose to prominence, effectively replacing the Bay City Junior College, which, founded in 1922, could no longer accommodate the burgeoning demand for higher education. This marked a significant step in providing expanded educational opportunities for the region.

Initially, Delta College offered an on-campus living experience, opening two residence halls in 1967. While dorm occupancy flourished, peaking at 178 students in 1980, the campus evolved, and the residence halls closed by 1993. Today, Delta College continues its mission as a vibrant public community college, providing accessible educational pathways for its 9,000 students. Its history underscores a commitment to adapting and growing with the needs of its community, ensuring a valuable and engaging learning experience for all.
