Dordt University

The university's history is as unique as its name. Founded in 1953 as Midwest Christian Junior College, it quickly evolved. In 1956, it was thoughtfully renamed Dordt College, a tribute to the historic 17th-century Synod of Dordt in the Netherlands. From its humble beginnings with around 40 students in 1955 and its first graduating class in 1957, Dordt has grown significantly. It began awarding B.A. degrees in 1965 and officially transitioned to Dordt University in 2019, reflecting its expanding academic programs and stature.
