East Central College

East Central College stands as a cornerstone of education in east central Missouri, proudly serving its community as a public community college since its founding in 1968. With a vibrant student body of 2,629, ECC provides accessible and high-quality educational opportunities designed to meet the evolving needs of the region and prepare students for successful careers or further academic pursuits.

The college's journey began modestly in 1969, with initial classes held in rented facilities and an enrollment of 476 students. Rapid development soon followed, establishing its main campus on 114 acres. Early milestones included the completion of the Administration Building in 1971 (later renovated into Buescher Hall), followed by the Multipurpose Building in 1973, and the Vocational-Technical Building in 1978, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive learning environment.

Today, East Central College boasts modern facilities that enhance the student experience. Key additions like the Health & Science Building, completed in 2009 with nearly 52,000 square feet, signify ECC's commitment to cutting-edge education. The fully renovated Buescher Hall, dedicated to college pioneer George H. Buescher, now offers 61,166 square feet dedicated to vital resources including the Library, Learning Center, Student Service Center, classrooms, and administrative offices, ensuring students have the support and resources needed to thrive.
