Eastern Florida State College

Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) stands as a dynamic public institution, rooted deeply in the rich history of Florida's Space Coast. What began as Brevard Junior College in 1960 has evolved significantly, transforming into a state college renowned for preparing students for diverse and critical fields, including those connected to the region's prominent space industry. The college's journey began with 768 students, founded by the Brevard County School Board. A significant chapter in its history unfolded in 1963 when Brevard Junior College merged with the all-black Carver Junior College, a move that marked a crucial step towards desegregation and consolidated its presence at the current Cocoa Campus. Renamed Brevard Community College in 1970, it cemented its role within Florida's statewide system of two-year colleges, expanding its reach and offerings before its ultimate rebranding to Eastern Florida State College on July 1, 2013.

Academically, EFSC is distinguished by its aeronautics specialities, serving as a foundational stepping stone for students pursuing careers at institutions like Florida Institute of Technology and the University of Central Florida, often linked to NASA. Beyond aerospace, the college has expanded its baccalaureate options, now offering four-year degrees in high-demand fields such as health care management and general business management. With a notable 51% increase in online class enrollment between 2007 and 2010, EFSC demonstrates a commitment to flexible and accessible learning, ensuring a modern and accommodating student experience.
