Eastern Wyoming College

Eastern Wyoming College stands as a vital educational cornerstone, serving a vibrant community as a public institution dedicated to accessible learning. The college's rich history began in 1948 as the Southeast University Center, initially an extension of the University of Wyoming and part of the Torrington School District 3. This foundational period laid the groundwork for its future independence and expansion. A significant milestone occurred in June 1956 when local citizens voted to establish the Goshen County Community College District as an independent entity with its own board of trustees, reflecting a growing commitment to local educational autonomy.

Over the subsequent years, EWC expanded its reach and influence, with additional school districts electing to join the college district, broadening its community impact. This growth culminated in a name change in December 1968, when it officially became the Eastern Wyoming Community College District, solidifying its identity and role in the region.
