Serving over 2,100 students, ECC is known for its practical, career-focused approach, ensuring graduates are ready to make an immediate impact.

ECC's journey began modestly in 1967 as Edgecombe Technical Institute, an extension of Wilson County Technical Institute. From its first classes in 1968, it quickly grew, evolving into Edgecombe Community College in 1987, a name change reflecting its broadened commitment to comprehensive education for the region. This evolution highlights a continuous dedication to adapting and expanding educational opportunities to meet community needs.

Today, ECC stands out with its state-of-the-art facilities, most notably the 45,000 sq ft Biotechnology and Medical Simulation Center, opened in 2016 on the Rocky Mount campus. This impressive center offers unparalleled hands-on learning, preparing students for critical roles in healthcare and scientific innovation. Under the leadership of President Gregory McLeod, who made history as ECC's first Black president in 2018, the college continues its tradition of forward-thinking education, fostering a welcoming and dynamic environment for its diverse student body.
