Edgecombe Community College

Renowned for its cutting-edge facilities, ECC's 45,000 sq foot Biotechnology and Medical Simulation Center, opened in 2016, exemplifies its commitment to providing hands-on training in high-demand fields. The college's journey began in 1967 as Edgecombe Technical Institute, initially operating as an extension unit. By August 1968, it proudly welcomed its first classes, laying the foundation for decades of educational service. This foundation grew significantly, leading to its official renaming as Edgecombe Community College in 1987, a reflection of its expanded scope and dedication to comprehensive community education.

Over the years, ECC has continuously evolved, enhancing its campus and educational offerings to better serve its student body and the wider community. Under the leadership of President Gregory McLeod, who took the helm in 2018 as ECC's first Black president, the college continues its mission of fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
