The genesis of EHOVE is rooted in the forward-thinking vision of Ohio officials in the 1960s. Recognizing the economic growth spurred by developments like the Ohio Turnpike and the increasing demand for skilled workers, the need for a dedicated vocational school became clear. The Erie Huron Ottawa Vocational Board (EHOVE) was formed in 1965 to meticulously plan this groundbreaking institution. Supported by significant public funding, including measures passed with the help of Governor James A. Rhodes, EHOVE opened its doors, quickly becoming a cornerstone of regional workforce development and fulfilling its critical mission to integrate career training within public education.

Today, EHOVE continues its legacy of excellence, serving approximately 900 students from a wide network of 15 partner high schools across Erie and Huron counties. This collaborative approach ensures that a broad community benefits from its specialized programs, providing diverse opportunities for students to explore and master various trades and professions.
