About Elim Bible Institute and College

Elim Bible College: A century-old spiritual oasis recently accredited for the next generation.

Elim Bible Institute and College, soon to be known as Elim Bible College, offers a unique and intimate educational experience rooted in faith. Founded in 1924, this private institution draws its name from a biblical oasis, symbolizing a place of spiritual refreshment and growth. With a focused student body of 98, Elim provides a close-knit community where individuals can deeply engage with their studies and spiritual development.

The college boasts a rich and winding history, beginning in Endwell, New York, under the vision of Ivan Quay Spencer and Minnie Spencer. Its journey included stops in Rochester, Red Creek, and Hornell before finding its permanent home in Lima, New York, in 1951—a campus steeped in history as the former site of the Genesee Wesleyan Seminary. Elim also holds a significant place in Pentecostal history, having served as a key center for the Latter Rain Movement starting in 1948.

For much of its existence, Elim focused on awarding certificate diplomas, building a strong legacy of ministry preparation. However, a pivotal moment arrived in 2020 when the school achieved full accreditation from the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). This accreditation signifies a new era, allowing Elim to offer recognized degrees and ensure a rigorous academic standard for its students. As of January 27, 2025, the institution will officially transition its name to Elim Bible College, signaling its continued evolution and commitment to preparing students for impactful service.
